What is the difference between absolute and real stockouts?

Stockout provides information on different types of stockouts for a particular product.

Absolute stockout

This measures SKU size gaps in a store vs. the SKU sizes it should have. We represent it in percentage of sizes of a product with 0 stock.

For example:

The calculation is in 3 sizes with 0 stock in the store: of 5 sizes in the store we have a result of 60% Absolute Stockout.

Real stockout

This measures SKU size gaps in a store vs. the SKU sizes it should have for adjusting stock availability in the warehouse. In the example, we only take into account stockouts that can be solved from the warehouse (sizes L and XL).

The calculation is in 2 sizes with 0 stock in the store but with stock in the warehouse. Of 5 sizes in the store we have a result of 40% Real Stockout.

Real stockout is always less than or equal to absolute stockout.
